A Great Start for a Lifetime of Oral Health

We’ll reserve two hours for your new patient exam and hygiene visit. When you arrive, you’ll be warmly greeted and escorted to a treatment room. Dr. Hanson will conduct a thorough examination, carefully evaluating five key components:

• Oral Cancer Assessment – Oral cancer claims the lives of 7,500 Americans each year. Early diagnosis of this stealthy, often painless disease greatly increases a person's chance for survival. That’s why Dr. Hanson performs an oral cancer screen at every checkup and new patient exam. He’ll discuss risk factors with you, provide education about the disease, and use ViziLite to check for suspicious lesions that require further investigation.
• Gums – Periodontal disease, commonly called gum disease, exhibits few or no symptoms early on. Left untreated, gum disease can cause tooth and bone loss, as well as serious health complications. Dr. Hanson will examine your gums for signs of periodontal disease and determine if your gums and jawbone are providing adequate support for your teeth.
• Bite – A misaligned bite can cause uneven tooth wear or TMJ disorder. Evaluating your bite will help Dr. Hanson identify current or potential problems so that he can administer appropriate treatment.
• Teeth – Your teeth are the most visible part of your smile, and they allow you to eat and speak properly, comfortably. Dr. Hanson will check each tooth for decay or disease and determine the integrity of existing dental work. He’ll take digital X-rays for an in-depth view of your oral health. A digital X-ray machine emits about 80% less radiation than traditional radiography, so they’re safe and earth friendly.
• Smile Satisfaction – Are you happy with your smile? If not, Dr. Hanson will give you information on cosmetic therapies to change the color, shape, and overall appearance of your teeth.

During your exam, we’ll take pictures inside your mouth with an intraoral camera and display them on a chairside monitor. These images are a great education tool to help you make sound decisions about your dental care. Another information source is our CAESY Patient Education System, which provides short videos describing the therapies we offer.

For your convenience in paying for dental care, we accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. Third-party financing is available through CareCredit and Chase Healthcare Financing. Please see their websites for details.

As a courtesy to you, we’ll gladly file your insurance claim. We accept most insurance plans, and Dr. Hanson is a preferred provider for many. Please call for more information.
